Scandinavian entries for best foreign film Oscar - "Zozo" from Sweden and "Winter Kiss" from Norway

"Zozo" from Sweden and "Winter Kiss" from Norway were selected Wednesday as the Scandinavian countries' entries for the best foreign film Oscar.

The entries, announced separately by the countries' film industries, are all vying for a spot among the five finalists for the Academy Award. Nominations are expected on Jan. 31.

"Zozo" is about an orphan boy's flight from Lebanon's civil war to safety in Sweden. It was written and directed by Josef Fares, and opened Sept. 2, starring Imad Creidi as Zozo.

"Winter Kiss" (Vinterkyss) is also about fleeing: a Norwegian doctor seeking refuge from her own past in a wintry village. It is the feature length debut by director Sara Johansen, 36, and has won two Norwegian Amanda prizes _ for best leading actress and best Nordic debut film, the AP reports.

In neighboring Denmark, the Danish Film Institute earlier this week picked "Adam's Apples," written and directed by Anders Thomas Jensen, who won an Oscar in 1999 for his short film "Election Night."

"Adam's Apples" (Adams Aebler) is about a young neo-Nazi sentenced to community service at a rural church. AM
