Russian Prime Minister on the importance of Russia's and China's participation in APEC forum in Los Cabos

The participation of Russia and China greatly contributed to the successful work of the APEC forum in Los Cabos, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov said during his meeting with chairman of the PRC Jiang Zemin in Los Cabos.

Russia is satisfied with the results of the APEC summit's work, Kasyanov said. He also stressed that his talks with the APEC countries' leaders led to the conclusion that today a lot of things in the world depend on Russia and China.

Kasyanov confirmed Russia's adherence to the UN principles and the idea of a multi-polar world.

According to the prime minister, Russian president Vladimir Putin instructed him to convey his best wishes to the PRC chairman. Kasyanov pointed out that Vladimir Putin "looked forward to meeting Jiang Zemin in Los Cabos but the tragic events in Moscow did not allow him to come to the APEC summit." At the present time, Russia is preparing to the official visit of Vladimir Putin to China scheduled for the beginning of December, the prime minister said.

For his part, Jiang Zemin also expressed his satisfaction with the work of the APEC forum and the very good atmosphere during its sessions.

The Chinese leader pointed out that he was very glad to meet the Russian premier. He also stated that he heard Mikhail Kasyanov's speech at the summit and added that he speaks English very well. "Much better than I do", he said in Russian.
