Russian sailors freed from Nigerian jail back home

Twelve Russian sailors, who spent two years in prison in Nigeria on oil smuggling charges and who were recently released, came back home, met with their relatives at Moscow's Sheremetyevo-2 airport and went to a hotel. The sailors chose not to talk with journalists, an Interfax correspondent reported from the airport.

The sailors' relatives and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Ara Abramian who were accompanying them said they will meet with members of the press at a news conference to be held in Moscow later on Wednesday. Abramian said all legal problems that obstructed the sailors' return home have been solved, but Russia might possibly file legal claims against Nigeria.

Asked about the sailors' health, Abramian said, "They are all feeling well, but they need to undergo a rehabilitation course, including psychological rehabilitation,” reports Interfax. I.L.
