The idea to gather such conference has been recently considered at different levels and is a vital problem, says the joint statement on the Middle East, which was signed, following the Russia-EU summit.
Russia and the European Union have expressed "deep concern for the developments in the Middle East, which caused many victims and great destruction over the last 18 months and inflicted serious damage on Israelis and Palestinians." The summit participants stressed that the conflict has no military solution and reminded those present of the necessity of overall political settlement, based on the UN Security Council's resolutions.
