Iran wants no war

Iranian ambassador to Russia Gholamreza Shafee has described as "provocation" Russian media reports on Iran being ostensibly ready to deal a preemptive strike on Azerbaijan in case it and Georgia join hands with the United States in an anti-Iranian coalition.

"Such rumor can only emerge in fevered imagination or the American secret services", said the Iranian ambassador. He is on a three-day routine visit to the Russian North Caucasian Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.

He also stressed that "Iran is not going to wage war against any country whatsoever because two wars - in Afghanistan and Iraq - that happened in a short time is more than enough for one of the most complicated regions in the world".
