Bulgarian Tanker Which Survived Fire Is Ready For Voyage

The Bulgarian tanker Khan Asparuh which caught fire last Saturday is lying out at Novorossiysk port and is preparing to put to sea. The port register service reported that the commission on emergency situations of the Novorossiysk sea port, which must determine the damage done to the tanker by fire, as well as the sum to be paid to the rescue workers of Novorossiysk port and of the Emergency Situations Ministry for the assistance given in extinguishing fire and the services provided to the crew, is finishing its work on board the ship affected by the fire. The fire on the tanker began early in the morning on October 27 because of malfunction of an electric cable in the hold of the tanker when it left the port with a cargo of crude oil from the Novorossiysk terminal and was heading for the open sea. Six Bulgarian sailors who were injured by fire were evacuated to the shore where medical assistance was given to them.
