Delegates of the Federation Council, or the upper parliamentary chamber, will take an excursion tour of Finland. Chairman of the chamber's international affairs committee Mikhail Margelov said that debates in the Finnish parliament led to a corresponding resolution. Twenty-two Russian senators will present "a new political image" of Russia to Finnish people as well as to the rest of the Scandinavian and Baltic regions, Margelov said. His opinion is that this event should more deeply involve the senators into the process of international cooperation aimed at gaining mutual benefits from reasonable labour division. On Thursday, Mikhail Margelov made a report in Helsinki. Its topic ran as "Russia's foreign policies in the post-cold war period." He supposes that political and business circles in Finland, interested in developing ties with Russia, want to fill regional cooperation plans with practical content.
