Armenian government welcomes warm relations between Catholic and Armenian Churches

Armenian President Robert Kocharian met Archbishop of Baltimore William Keeler, who was invited to Armenia by Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, on August 28. As a Rosbalt correspondent was informed by the president's press office, Mr Kocharian welcomed the warm relations that have developed between the Armenian Church and the Catholic Church.

Catholicos Karekin II and Archbishop Keeler were also met by Prime Minister Andranik Markarian. According to the government press office, Mr Markarian also praised the way that the two Churches are cooperating. He said that good relations between denominations is helping to bring peace in the world. Catholicos Karekin II stressed that the two Churches must continue to cooperate, especially when humanity is faced by so many unsolved and difficult problems.
