Blockade Strengthened On Palestine Town Of Qalgilya

Israeli troops have strengthened the blockade of the Palestinian town of Qalgilya, on the river Jordan's western bank. Israeli soldiers took control of all entries and exits into and out of the town. On the approaches to the town checkpoints have been set up or concrete and barbed wire barricades erected. At the same time, from new positions built around the town, Israeli troops are continuing to shoot in the direction of residential districts. As a result of the shooting electric pylons, agricultural territory, and a nail factory have been damaged. Neighbouring Palestinian villages have been totally isolated from the town. A Palestinian was wounded by gunfire in the town of Deir al-Balah, on Jordan's west bank, on Tuesday. In addition the residential district of Khan Yunis in the Gaza sector was fired on.

On December 10, 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, its thirty articles enshrining basic and fundamental rights guaranteeing dignity of the human person and equality for all, regardless of race, color, creed or gender. A pipe dream?
