President Bush firmly backed Iraq's fledgling government Tuesday, echoing comments by his vice president that the county's insurgency will be defeated, publishes CNN News.
Speaking in the White House Rose Garden, Bush said he was pleased with progress in Iraq more than two years after he declared the end of &to=http:// english.pravda.ru/accidents/ 21/93/374/15496_Chechnya.html ' target=_blank>major combat operations.
"I think the Iraq government will be up to the task of defeating the insurgents. I think the Iraqi people dealt the insurgents a serious blow when they had the elections [in January]," Bush said.
"I believe that the Iraqi government's going to be plenty capable of dealing with them, and our job is to help train them so that they can."
