IAEA inspectors return to Iraq

Moscow hails the decision on the return of the inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to Iraq.

As was stated by official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Yakovenko, "Russia has learned with satisfaction that the IAEA will resume its inspections in Iraq." "Russia has always believed that the IAEA is the only international body, which has special powers to assess how any state observes its commitments in the sphere of nuclear non-proliferation," Alexander Yakovenko underscored.

The IAEA Secretariat in Vienna reported that the Agency's inspectors would return to Iraq to continue controlling the state of the nuclear facilities next Friday, June 6. According to a member of the Secretariat, on Wednesday a group of IAEA inspectors will fly from Vienna to Kuwait, and then on Friday - to Baghdad.

The IAEA inspectors will check only the Tuvait atomic facility. That has been agreed upon with the American occupational forces in Iraq.

At the demand of the USA, the group of the IAEA inspectors, who is going to Iraq, will consist of at least of ten people.
