2 Russians and American receive new Global Energy Prize

Russian scientists Fyodor Mitenkov and Alexander Sheindlin and American Leonard J. Koch became the first laureates of the new International Global Energy Prize.

Nobel Prize winner, chairman of the Global Energy Prize International Committee Zhores Alferov announced the laureates on Monday.

The prize fund worth $900,000 will be divided into three equal parts between the laureates.

Meanwhile, in 2005 the prize fund will be increased up to $1 million, Gazprom head Alexei Miller said on Monday.
