Bush greets Palestinian leader Abbas on eve of Muslim holiday

President George W.Bush on Wednesday restated his support for an independent Palestinian state in a message of greeting to Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas on the eve of the Muslim feast of Eid al-Fitr.

"I'm working toward our joint vision of an independent democratic Palestinian state living side by side with Israel in peace and security," WAFA quoted the message as saying. "I wish you...my best regards and the best regards of the American people for a happy Eid.", AP reported. V.A.
