Integral Systems CEO charged with sex offense

The CEO of satellite software company Integral Systems Inc. has been charged with sex offense and assault, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Friday.

Steven R. Chamberlain faces one count each of fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault in Howard County. He is expected to go on trial in January in District Court. No other details of the alleged incident were provided.

Chamberlain denies the charges and plans to "vigorously fight" them, according to the filing.

County police could not immediately provide details of the case.

The company's board of directors appointed an independent panel that will review the case.

A company spokeswoman did not immediately return a call Friday evening seeking comment.

Integral Systems makes ground control systems and software for satellites. According to the company's Web site, Chamberlain has been with the company since it was founded in 1982, starting as a vice president before assuming the CEO role in 1992.

The company's shares rose 30 cents to close Friday at $22.10 on the Nasdaq Stock Market, AP reported. V.A.
