US Ambassador to Russia Alexander Vershbow has categorically refuted some media reports that the US embassy recruits Russian citizens, who in the past fought in Afghanistan, for the military operations in that country. He said this at a press conference in Moscow on Monday. The ambassador pointed out that the announcements about the recruitment appeared at one of the web sites in St. Petersburg, called them a fake and stressed that they have nothing to do with the US administration. Those Russian citizens who reacted to that web site were simply deceived, Vershbow said.

The Kremlin is very concerned about the events related to the crash of the Il-20 Russian military aircraft in Syria
