USA Will Maintain Contacts With All Anti-Taliban Forces In Afghanistan

C-in-C of the US Central Command General Tommy Franks has announced that America will maintain contacts with all anti-Taliban groups in Afghanistan. While appearing at a Tashkent press conference on Wednesday, Franks said that he had met a few leaders of the Afghan opposition at the Bagram air base to get a clearer understanding of the situation in Afghanistan. According to the general, he was also interested in the issue of co-operation between US special forces taking part in the anti-terrorist operation and anti-Taliban opposition units. Franks said that he had had an open and constructive conversation.

On December 10, 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, its thirty articles enshrining basic and fundamental rights guaranteeing dignity of the human person and equality for all, regardless of race, color, creed or gender. A pipe dream?
