A screenplay written by slain rapper Tupac Shakur will be produced as a film

"Live 2 Tell," a script Shakur wrote in 1995 about an inner-city black youth who becomes a drug kingpin and later goes straight, was acquired by Insomnia Media Group, which plans to begin production next March, company Chairman Bret Saxon and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Bowler said Tuesday.

Insomnia acquired the rights from Tupac's mother, Afeni Shakur, who will be a producer on the film, which has not yet been cast, the AP reports.

Indie production company Insomnia creates, develops, finances and produces feature films, TV series and books. It has been involved in such recent projects as HBO's "Rome"; the A&E docudrama "Inked"; VH1's reality series "Driven" and "Bands Reunited"; the feature comedy "Blue Sombrero"; and Jose Canseco's recent best-seller, "Juiced."

Shakur was one of the top gangsta rappers of his day, and his popularity only increased after his 1996 death in a Las Vegas drive-by shooting. He also made a mark on the big screen, with such films as "Juice," "Poetic Justice," "Above the Rim," "Gridlock'd" and "Gang Related." He has also been the subject of two documentaries, "Biggie & Tupac" and "Tupac: Resurrection."

Tupac, who appeared in such films as "Poetic Justice," "Above the Rim" and "Gridlock'd," had written "Live 2 Tell" for himself to star in. AM

Reporting that an SAS operative stormed a Kenyan hotel "single-handedly" is not only a lie, it is also highly disrespectful to the Kenyan authorities.
