Russia Welcomes US Decision To Promote Cooperation On Non-Proliferation Of Mass Destruction Weapons

Russia welcomes the White House's statement about the readiness of the USA to further develop cooperation with Russia on curbing the spread of weapons of mass destruction. The White House also confirmed its commitment to continue the implementation of respective US-Russian programs. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry's information and press department, Russia considers this statement a real step toward forming new strategic relations between the two countries. The Russian Federation consistently carries out a policy aimed at strengthening the non-proliferation regime, whose most important element is interaction with the USA on the annihilation and disposal of mass destruction weapons in accordance with assumed obligations. Unfortunately the non-proliferation problem is becoming acute in view of the US withdrawal from the Antiballistic Missile Treaty, the Russian Foreign Ministry stresses.
