Putin greets Hu on Chinese national holiday

MOSCOW. Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent greetings to Chinese President Hu Jintao on the occasion of the Chinese national holiday, the 56th anniversary of the formation of the People's Republic of China, the Kremlin press service reported on Saturday.

"It is pleasant to see that Russian-Chinese interaction is expanding in all areas. Active political dialogue is underway, and the two countries' positions on the key international issues are being closely coordinated. Trade, economic, and investment cooperation is strengthening and assuming new forms. All this gives grounds to say with confidence that relations between our countries, which are based on truly strategic partnership, are developing successfully," the message reads.

"Regular Russian-Chinese meetings at the top level, which are invariably marked by a high practical output, play a significant role in this positive process. I am confident that our agreement on holding Year of Russia in China in 2006 will provide an additional incentive to the continued expansion of our bilateral ties," he said, INTERFAX reported.
