Washington acusa Irã de involvimento com terrorismo

WASHINGTON - Os Estados Unidos acusaram, este domingo, o Irã de ajudar terroristas a fugir do Afeganistão e de tentar desestabilizar a região oeste afegã com o objetivo de prejudicar a campanha que Washington realiza no país.

O secretário de Defesa, Donald Rumsfeld, acusou Teerã de ajudar talebans e membros da rede extremista Al-Qaeda a "transitar" ou a "encontrar refúgio" no Irã.

Rumsfeld acusou o Irã de ter "autorizado" ou "fechado os olhos" para a fuga de indivíduos perseguidos pelos Estados Unidos, mas não precisou o número exato ou as identidades das pessoas que teriam se beneficiado da bondade iraniana.

"Temos relatórios que indicam que o Irã foi permissivo e consentiu com o trânsito da Al-Qaeda por seu país", disse o secretário ao programa televisivo "This Week", da rede ABC.

Rumsfeld também disse que o Irã fornece armas a vários grupos afegãos.
