Russia will substitute all its peacekeepers in Kosovo and Bosnia. In compliance with the order of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, the peacekeeping functions, which are currently performed by the Russian Air-Borne Force, will be transferred to the infantry. This Monday, the first train with 60 Russian paratroopers and approximately the same number of special hardware items left Kosovo. According to the Air-Borne Force Command, the substitution is expected to take 4-6 months. The number of Russian peacekeepers will be reduced from 3,000 to 2,000 soldiers. Russian contingent in Bosnia will remain the same - 600 men.
