On Friday another stage of the American "Education and Equipment" program for Georgian Armed Forces was completed.
180 Georgian officers who in the course of 9 weeks underwent staff training under command of American military instructors received appropriate certificates.
Representatives of the Defense Ministry, General Staff of the Armed Forces, Frontier Guards Department, Ministry of Interior, State Security Ministry and special state guard services took part in the staff exercises.
The next stage of the program provides for tactical exercises. At the end of August a three-month training of the first Georgian 400 people-strong battalion will be commenced. In total in the nearest year American instructors plan to train 4 battalions of Georgian servicemen.
The US government assigned USD 64 million to implement the "Education and Equipment" program for the Georgian Armed Forces.
