21 people killed in mud-flow rains in Tajikistan

On Wednesday mudflow rains hit an Alpine village in the Gorno-Badakhshansk autonomous region, Tajikistan, killing 21 people and completely destroying 75 houses, the press service of the Tajik Emergencies Ministry said.

A governmental commission, headed by Tajik Emergencies Minister Mirzo Ziyeyev, flew to the site of the disaster.

The villagers are being supplied with tents, medicines and food products. The extent of the damage caused by the disaster is being ascertained.
