Georgia may end up as rogue state

The Georgian government risks leading its state to a rogue state status unless it commits itself to seriously opposing international terrorism, chairman of the international affairs committee of the Russian Federation Council (parliament's upper chamber) Mikhail Margelov said in an interview Wednesday, commenting on the tour of the Russian Prosecutor General Vladimir Ustinov to Tbilisi.

"The decision to ask additional proof of the armed-to-teeth men's belonging to illicit armed formations was taken not by Georgian prosecution but by top leaders in Tbilisi, and with great hesitations, too," Margelov believes. By mere common sense, it is absurd, he says.

"There's no third option - either Tbilisi begins countering international terrorism rather than conniving at it, or international pressure must be applied to Georgian authorities," the official underlined.
