North-Atlantic Alliance ready to develop relations with Ukraine - NATO Secretary General

The Northern Alliance is "ready to develop relations with Ukraine," NATO Secretary General George Robertson announced, opening a special session of the Ukraine-NATO commission in Kiev on Tuesday.

The session is devoted to the fifth anniversary of the signing of the Charter on Ukraine-NATO special partnership. The participants in the session are discussing the prospects of further development of cooperation with NATO.

Recently Ukraine has contributed greatly to the process of stabilizing European security, the NATO Secretary General stressed. According to him, it is time to concentrate on developing and enhancing partnership between Ukraine and NATO.

During his visit the Northern Alliance Secretary General will be received by Ukranian President Leonid Kuchma on Tuesday. He will also meet with the Ukranian parliament's speaker and a number of ministers.

On December 10, 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, its thirty articles enshrining basic and fundamental rights guaranteeing dignity of the human person and equality for all, regardless of race, color, creed or gender. A pipe dream?
