President of Kazakhstan supports unification with Uzbekistan

In the future, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan should be unified to form a singlestate. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev voiced this opinion at a newsconference in Astana after talks with Uzbek President Islam Karimov today. An agreement on selected sections of the Kazakh-Uzbek border was signedduring the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan. Inaccordance with the agreement, two of the three disputed areas wereallocated to Kazakhstan and one was given to Uzbekistan. Nazarbayev pointedout that this agreement had marked the end of the process of legaldescription of the state border and resolved the border disputes betweenthe two countries. Karimov underlined for his part that from now on "theUzbek-Kazakh border will be civilized, and there will be no wireentanglements on it."During the news conference both leaders declared their interest in furtherintegration between the two countries, the NTV television reported. At thesame time Nazarbayev and Karimov did not give any details of the comingunification of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. .

On December 10, 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, its thirty articles enshrining basic and fundamental rights guaranteeing dignity of the human person and equality for all, regardless of race, color, creed or gender. A pipe dream?
