Tatarstani Delegation Travels to Poland to Negotiate Increase of Car and Oil Sales

Tatarstani Minister for Trade and Foreign Economic Cooperation Hafiz Salikhov left on an official visit to the Lodz Province of Poland today. During the visit, which will last until December 14, Mr Salikhov will meet Governor of the Lodz Province Kshishtov Makovsky, Marshall of the Province Mechislav Teodorchik and Polish Minister of Economy Jacek Piechota. Accompanying Mr Salikhov are KAMAZ Vice-President for Sales and Service Anatoly Samarenkin and Deputy Director of the agency for international cooperation of the Tatar government Pishat Mukhamadyarov.

As a Rosbalt correspondent was informed by press secretary for the Tatarstani Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Cooperation Ilshat Galyavin, the delegation is intending to hold negotiations with the Polish authorities on the possible increase in sales of KAMAZ trucks and truck parts as well as the advancement of Tatarstani oil on the Polish market. They will also discuss the possibility of holding exhibitions and fairs in Poland and Tatarstan and organizing business ventures for Lodz entrepreneurs in the republic.

In 1996 Tatarstan and Poland signed an agreement to cooperate in the areas of trade, science and culture. In terms of international trading partnerships Poland now holds fifth place in Tatarstan. Over recent years Tatarstan has exported crude oil, synthetic rubber, oil products, trucks and truck parts to Poland. At the same time Tatarstan has imported enginery, meat, black-metal piping, car parts and electrical equipment from Poland.
