Boris Pastukhov, the chairman of the State Duma Committee on the CIS affairs, will arrive in Tbilisi on Thursday. Pastukhov is to discuss the preparation of a framework agreement on friendship and cooperation between Russia and Georgia. The previous Russian-Georgian friendship and cooperation agreement was signed in 1994 but was not ratified by the State Duma, or the lower parliamentary house of Russia. The Russian and Georgian Presidents are known to have agreed to speed up elaboration of the new framework agreement at their meeting in Moscow on November 30.
