Further rescue operations in Karmadon Gorge are life-threatening

Further rescue operations in the avalanche area of the Karmadon Gorge (in the North Caucasus) are life-threatening for the workers, Deputy Russian Minister of Emergency Situations Mikhail Faleyev informed RIA Novosti.

According to him, the Minister of Emergency Situations has received a report from an independent expert commission stating that further rescue operations in the Karmadon Gorge are life-threatening. The commission concluded that it was impossible to find somebody dead or alive in the gorge corridors and pockets.

According to Faleyev, the operation is continuing, however, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Alania republic in North Ossetia (where the avalanche occurred) will soon order to halt it.

On Tuesday, Faleyev opened a scientific and practical conference titled "Problems of Emergency Situations Forecast".
