Russia-belarus: Union Has Fine Prospects, Says Russian Parliament Speaker

The Russian-Belarussian union will not see stagnation now that the bilateral trade turnover has come to a peak and is likely to get over an US$10 billion mark by the year's end, holds Speaker Gennadi Seleznev of the State Duma, Russia's lower parliamentary house. Both countries' MPs are making the top executives to be quicker about all matters concerning the union. In particular, they are drafting an union constitutional act which will offer an alternative to governmental blueprints. The act will serve as basis for the two countries' laws on parliamentary elections, Mr. Seleznev said in a public address in St. Petersburg.
