Cis Interparliamentary Assembly Calls On Parliaments To Help Neutralize Terrorism

The Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States has approved an appeal to every legislature in the world to come up with effective legal instruments to neutralize international terrorism. The group, which brings together delegations from parliaments of many ex-Soviet states, met in session in St. Petersburg on Saturday. The delegates underscored that the United Nations is to become the center of the global campaign against terror. "Any collective sanctions, including forceful actions, must be taken only on the decision of the UN Security Council," the appeal says. The CIS parliamentarians also urged renouncing double standards when evaluating instances of terrorism in various regions of the world.
