Kazakh President Counts On Effective Meetings Within CIS Summit In Moscow

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev plans to discuss the topical issues of bilateral relations with Russian head of state Vladimir Putin within the framework of a CIS summit in Moscow, the ambassador of Kazakhstan to Russia, Tair Mansurov, told journalists on Tuesday answering a RIA Novosti question. According to him, Russia and Kazakhstan are holding "very active contacts" which make it possible to solve the current problems and find effective solutions to imminent problems. Mansurov said there were many problems in the field of economy and security. The ambassador said that Kazakhstan and Russia had reached this year's end "with good results." Thus, if in 2000 the bilateral trade turnover made $4.24 billion, this year, as forecasts say, it may reach $5 billion. "We are successfully cooperating at Baikonur and are finding effective solutions to problems of humanitarian cooperation," the Kazakh diplomat said. "In addition to that, Kazakhstan and Russia have a common information and education space." According to the ambassador, both sides have solved all problems in the field of legal relations and this allows Russia and Kazakhstan to shape further economic, political and humanitarian relations in such a way as to orient interstate relations at "the life of people."
