Uzbek and Tajik Presidents Islam Karimov and Emomali Rakhmonov are ready to support the peace process in Afghanistan, says the joint statement of the two leaders, issued following their talks in Tashkent on Thursday. According to the statement, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan support the establishment of the new Afghan democratic state living in harmony and peace with its neighbours and the world community as a whole. Karimov and Rakhmonov came out for further delimitation of the state border between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. According to them, the talks on the legalization of the border are constructive and are based on the principles of international law and the world practice.
