Sophie Moureaux: Anton Pavlovitch Chekhov January 17th 1860 - July 2nd 1904

Anton Chekhov departed this world a hundred years ago.
A man left. The Russian remains. With his last breath, Anton Chekhov said: "Ich sterbe", "I die" in German. He didn't use his native language. He knew that the Russian word doesn't die.In an ultimate message for the people whose colorless lives he painted so well, he said that any human being can imprint in a unique moment an example of eternity. He also said that neither fear nor pain can uproot Liberty from our person.

"Ich sterbe"...So Anton Chekhov set his Russian soul free to resound.
