Russia to produce 700 new-generation civil planes by 2015

The exemplar of Russia’s regional aircraft Superjet 100 was delivered to the Zhukovsky Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute for stationary tests on Sunday.

An Antonov An-124-100 Ruslan jumbo-freighter delivered a 40-meter fuselage, a wing and a tail fin, representatives of Sukhoi Civilian Aircraft told Arms Tass.

Fragments of the Superjet 100 prototype were unloaded from the plane within two hours and put on two heavy trailers. The tests will start in March, and the institute will give nine certificates for the first flight of the pilot edition of Superjet 100.

The flight tests will be over in 2008, and the jetliner will be supplied to clients in the same year. Superjet 100 is a part of the federal targeted program entitled “The Development of Civil Aircraft in Russia in 2002-2010 and the period until 2015.”

Sukhoi Superjet 100 aeroplane family is being developed based on the principle of maximum standardization of frame assemblies and systems, viz.: wings, fins, chassis, engine unit, crew cabin, basic aeroplane systems and component parts.

The standardization of the design will make it possible to improve the economic performance of the aeroplane family operation with expenditures kept at a rational level.

The aerodynamics and design of the aeroplanes of the family are based on proven advanced technology to minimise technical risks at the stage of design, testing and operation.

To broaden the customer base among airlines, each of the 2 standard sizes of the aeroplanes of the family (for 75 and 95 seats)has a basic and a LR modification designed for use on a network of various-length routes to make it possible for airlines to improve the economic performance of their operations through a more balanced composition of their fleets based on the route structure and passenger flows.

The Superjet 100 aeroplane family conforms to current and long-range requirements of Russian and global market in commercial aeroplanes.

The design meets the specific requirements of airlines in Russia, the CIS, and western countries, and conforms to the Aviation Rules AP-25, FAR-25, JAR-25 requirements.

The Superjet 100 family aeroplanes conform to the ground noise level requirements under ICAO Chapter 4 and FAR 36 Section 4 standards to come into force 2006, huliq.com says.

Russia is set to build 700 state-of-the-art passenger airliners by 2015, a deputy prime minister said Monday.

"A timetable for manufacturing new-generation civilian aircraft, in particular the SuperJet 100, is to be presented today at a session of the military-industrial commission," said Sergei Ivanov, who is also Russia's defense minister, Rian.ru reports.
