Philippine energy companies are now undertaking sustainable development projects within their areas of operation towards preserving and cleaning the environment. Two environmental-friendly projects, mangrove protection and greening the area, will be implemented within several years. Different energy companies will participate in them in order to preserve the green world.First Gas Power Corp. and FGP Corp. have started a mangrove enhancement and rehabilitation project yet. With the help of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, First Gas has mapped out a plan that would not only protect and enhance the mangrove but would also establish a seed production area for the area.Greening the area project will be implemented over the next two years. 2,600 fruit and non-fruit bearing trees will be added to the 500 mahogany trees that have been planted along the access road to the power plants.
