Russia doubles its car import

During the first three months of 2004 Russia doubled its import of sedans.

Russia increased its import of cars by 2,3 times (up to $1 billion 290,2 USD) in comparison with analogues period in 2003, reports National Customs Committee of the Russian Federation. Import of trucks constituted $114, 1 million USD. That is 35,7% greater than last year’s gains.

Amount of exported cars and heavy machinery from Russia also increased by 54,1% for January-April period of 2004. in comparison to the same four-month period of the preceding year, reports GTK.

GTK also noted that in comparison with the January-April period of 2003, Russia has increased its purchases of foreign cars abroad by 2,8 times.
