Russia and Kazakhstan to Invest Into Construction of Two Hydroelectric Plants

On Saturday Grigory Rapota, EurAsEC Secretary General, stated in the wake of his meeting with Askar Akayev, President of Kyrgyzstan, that Russia and Kazakhstan expressed their readiness to invest into development of the feasibility study for construction of two hydroelectric power stations on the Naryn river in Kyrgyzstan.

According to Rapota, in the nearest time the EurAsEC Interstate council, consisting of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, would take the appropriate decision.

According to RIA Novosti's information, estimated costs of construction of the two hydroelectric plants on the Naryn river will amount to USD 2 billion. Industrial power generated by the plants will be exclusively exported.
