Contracts have yet to be concluded
Joint-Stock Company Relero (Omsk Popva Radio Factory) is ready to deliver equipment and communications systems to Iraq for the restoration of means of telecommunications, according to the company’s general director, Ivan Polyakov. A year ago, the company successfully carried out a prestigious order to deliver equipment for the jetliner of the Russian president.
Polyakov said that Iraq was a traditional market for the company. Prior to the introduction of sanctions, the company delivered telecommunications equipment there. When discussing an opportunity to resume deliveries to Iraq, Polyakov mentioned that it concerns the possibility of delivering wireless radio-relay communications means as well as communications systems with increased safety standards.
Polyakov also stated that no contracts have been concluded yet, as sanctions are still valid against Iraq. He also said that the factory had increased its production volumes. Relero's output in the first quarter of 2003 was 700 percent larger than in the first quarter of 2002. He also said that the export potential of the enterprise by the year 2005 is expected to be in the sum of $250 million, with possible export volume of $110 million-$150 million annually.
JSC Relero is one of the largest Russian manufacturers of thin-route radio-relay stations. The basis of the company lies in the production of stations of from one to 20 channels for civil and military purposes, CDMA communications systems, minitelephone stations with a capacity of up to 144 numbers, uninterruptable power-supply devices, telescoping poles of nine-and-a-half to 20 meters, broadband antennae and so on. At present, the company delivers its products to military and governmental departments.
