Flip Video Mino marks new step in video technologies

Flip Video Mino is a new device by Pure Digital Technologies, which allows to quickly send videos through email. Mino was designed as a follow-up to the tiny Flip camcorder. The first recorder, released by the company, changed the perception about video recording.

Mino is expected to ameliorate many flaws of its predecessor. Flip Video Mino has a cleaner and more elegant look, a rechargeable Li-ion battery, sensitive buttons and a thinner appearance. The new device is about 40 percent slimmer than the Flip cam recorder.

Flip Video Mino also carries a new feature which allows to post videos on MySpace, whereas the previous technology only enabled video sharing on YouTube and AOL Video.

It is very easy for users to edit their videos with the help of the new device. It has a lock button to avoid accidental delete of videos and a mute option for all camera sounds useful for recording during speeches, wedding ceremonies or other events.

Flip Video Mino also presents a feature that enables video publishing on MySpace, as the prior software only allowed video sharing with YouTube and AOL Video. The device makes it very easy for users to edit their videos, as reviewing and trimming only take a few minutes. It also features a lock button for the delete option in order to avoid the accidental delete of videos and a mute option for all camera sounds useful for recording during speeches, weddings or other quiet events.

The new device is priced as $180.

The Flip Video camera was released on September 12 2007. The Flip Ultra, the previous model, has been the best-selling camcorder on Amazon.com since the day of its debut, capturing about 13% of the camcorder market.

It captures video in 640x480 resolution at 30 frames per second. It uses 2 AA batteries. It lacks a memory card extension slot but can be connected to a computer with its pop-out USB connector, without the need for a cable. It is simple to use, lacking most of the features of more advanced cameras. Depending on memory size, the current ("Ultra") model camera retails for $130 (1 GB flash memory for about 30 minutes of video) or $150 (2 GB flash memory).
