On June 8th people will be able to witness rare astrological occurrence—Venus will be passing along the Sun’s disc. This has been reported by head of the department of cosmic astrometry of the Russian academy of science Lidiya Rykhlova.
“A big black will appear on the Sun June 8th. The effect will be created by Venus traveling along the Sun's disc. This is a rather rare occurrence; next time Venus will travel the same distance only in 2012,” stated Lidiya Rykhlova.
The event is of no major significance for modern scientists. A while back, such observations were used to calculate the distance between our planet and the Sun. Nowadays, this is no longer an issue.
Residents of Europe, Asia and Africa will be lucky enough to witness the event, reports Korrespondent.Net.
