Moldova to host Days of Russian Films - 5 October, 2002

On Saturday, Days of Russian Films will open in Moldova for the first time over the past 13 years. During almost a week Chisinau's most up-to-date cinema house, Flakeara, will be screening 6 best films by famous film directors Karen Shakhnazarov, Valery Priyomykhov, Vladimir Menshov and Nikolai Lebedev, a former resident of Chisinau. The latter's film, The Star, will open up the Days' programme.

The Moldovan Culture Ministry reported that the decision to screen new Russian films in Moldova and Moldovan ones in Russia annually was made by the two countries' culture ministers, Mikhail Shvydkoi and Ion Pacuraru, at the Days of Moldovan Culture in Russia in March.

The first days of Russian films in Moldova will be held under the patronage of the republic's parliament.
