Vancouver: Russia’s Heroes March On

March 17 saw another glut of medals coming Russia’s way – 2 Golds, 4 Silvers and 2 Bronze medals, bringing the total to 8 Gold medals, 10 Silvers and 5 Bronze, a total of 23, placing Russia in first place ahead of Germany and Ukraine (12 each) and Canada (8). Gold, Silver and Bronze in the Men’s 12.5 km, Sitting.

The Golds sent to Irek Zaripov (his third) in the Men’s Biathlon, 12.5 km sitting, and Maria Iovleva (Biathlon – Women’s 10 km, Sitting). Today’s silver medals were won by Vladimir Kisilev (Biathlon – Men’s 12.5 km, Sitting); Anna Burmistrova (Biathlon – Women’s 12.5 km, Standing); Nikolai Polukhin (Biathlon – Men’s 12.5 km, Visually impaired) and Liubov Vasileva (Biathlon – Women’s 12.5 km, Visually impaired).

Finally the Bronze medals were in the Men’s Biathlon 12.5 km Sitting, for Roman Petushov and for Mikhalina Lysova in the women’s 12.5 km, Visually impaired.

Gold medals

Irek Zapirov (Biathlon – Men’s 2.4 km pursuit, Sitting); Kirill Mikhailov (Biathlon – Men’s 3 Km pursuit, Standing); Anna Burmistrova (Biathlon – Women’s 3 km pursuit, Standing); Irek Zaripov (Cross-country skiing – Men’s 15 km, Sitting); Kirill Mikhailov (Men’s Cross-country skiing – 20 km free); Anna Burmistrova (Women’s Cross-country skiing – 15 km free); Irek Zapirov (Biathlon – Men’s 12.5 km, Sitting); Maria Iovleva (Biathlon – Women’s 10 km, Sitting).

Silver medals

Bronze medals
