Vancouver Day 4: Russia Just Outside the Medals Again

On Day 4 Russia still has only one Bronze medal in the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, after just missing out yet again in the Men’s Luge Singles (Run 4), where Albert Demtschenko finished in fourth place, less than a tenth of a second behind Bronze medallist Armin Zoeggeler of Italy.

Martina Sablikova (Czech Republic) Gold; Stephanie Beckert (Germany) Silver; Kristina Groves (Canada) Bronze. Galina Lihkachova finished in 20 th.

Men’s Nordic Combined – Individual NH/10kmCC – 10 km

Jason Lamy Chappuis (France) Gold; Johnny Spillane (USA) Silver; Alessandro Pittin (Italy) Bronze. Russia’s Sergei Maslennilov finished in 42nd place.

Luge – Men’s Singles Run 4

Felix Loch (Germany) Gold; David Moeller (Germany) Silver; Armin Zoeggeler (Italy) Bronze. Albert Demtshcnenko finished in fourth place, less than a tenth of a second behind Zoeggeler.

Freestyle Skiing – Men’s Moguls Finals

Alexandre Bilodeau (Canada) Gold; Dale Begg-Smith (Australia) Silver; Bryon Wilson (USA) Bronze. The Russians Aleksandr Smyshlyaev and Denis Dolgodvorov finished in tenth and fifteenth, respectively.

Women’s Cross-Country Skiing 10 km Free

Charlotte Kalla (Sweden) Gold; Kristina Smigun-Vaehi (Estonia) Silver; Marit Bjoergen (Norway) Bronze. The 4 Russian women competing were Evgenia Medvedeva (7), Olga Savialova (14), Natalia Korosteleva (19) and Irina Khazona (20).

Men’s Downhill Alpine Skiing

Didier Defago (Switzerland) Gold; Aksel Lund Svindal (Norway); Bode Miller (USA) Bronze). Russians Aleksandr Horoshilov and Stepan Zuev finished in 45 th and 54 th positions.

Cross-Country Skiing – Men’s 15 km Free

Dário Cologna (Zwitzerland) Gold; Pietro Piller Cottrer (Italy) Silver; Lukas Bauer (Czech Republic) Bronze. The Russians Maksim Vylegzhanin, Aleksandr Legkov, Petr Sedov and Sergei Shiriaev finished in ninth, fifteenth, 26 th and 31 st positions.
