Iturbe scored for Roma on 6', Gervinho on 10' and 31', Maicon on 20', Ignashevich's own goal on 50' and Musa pulled one back for CSKA on 82'.

FC Zenit (Saint Petersburg) came away from Estádio da Luz (The Stadium of Light) in Lisbon, beating home side SL Benfica by 2-0 with goals from Hulk after five minutes and Witsel on 22'. In the other Group C game, Monaco beat Bayer Leverkusen 1-0. Zenit plays Monaco, Benfica meets Leverkusen in the next round.

Zenit passes to the group phase of the Champions League after beating Standard de Liège (Belgium) over two legs, 1-0 away in Belgium and 3-0 at home tonight in Saint Petersburg. The goalscorers for André Villas-Boas' team were Rondón (30') and a brace from Hulk, a penalty on 54' and another on 58'. Zenit, Porto, BATE, Maribor and APOEL pass.

FC Zenit: First points dropped

 

In Russia, FC Zenit leads the Premier League with 25 points after a goalless home draw with Spartak Moskva. Cristiano Ronaldo added to his goal tally in Spain with four more (two penalties) in Real's 5-1 drubbing of Elche, reaching 13 goals so far this season. Messi has 5.

Chempionat Rossii - Russian Premier League (After 9 matches)

In Russia, FC Zenit is top with 25 points from the first nine games of the season, drawing 0-0 at home with Spartak Moskva. Second is CSKA Moskva (21) after winning 4-3 at Ural's stadium in Ekaterinburg. Dinamo and Kuban drew 2-2 in Moscow and both have 19 points.

 

Premier League (England) (After 6 matches)

Chelsea FC is top with 16 points, after beating Aston Villa 3-0. Second is Southampton FC on 13 (2-1 against Queens Park Rangers) and third is Manchester City, 4-2 winners away at Hull City.

 

La Liga (Spain) (After 6 matches)

FC Barcelona has 16 points and leads La Liga after thrashing Granada 6-0 with a hat-trick from Neymar, two from messi and one from Rakitic. Valencia is second (3-0 over Córdoba) and third is Atlético (Madrid), 4-0 winners over Sevilla FC in Madrid. Valencia and Atlético have 14 points. Real put 5 past Elche (5-1), Cristiano Ronaldo scoring 4 goals with 2 penalties, Bale getting the other.

 

Bundesliga (Germany) (After 6 matches)

Bayern München 14, Vfl Borussia Moenchengladbach 12, Bayer 04 Leverkusen 11.

Bayern beat Köln 2-0 away, Moenchengladbach beat Paderborn 2-1 away and Leverkusen drew 0-0 at Freiburg.

 

Ligue 1 (France) (After 8 matches)

Olympique de Marseille (2-1 over Saint-Étienne), 19 points; second is FC Girondins de Bordeaux (17 points), winning 2-1 against Rennes; and third is LOSC Lille, 1-0 winners over Bastia.

 

Serie A (Italy) (After 5 matches)

Juventus and AS Roma have the maximum fifteen points from the first five games. Sampdoria is third with 11. Jove won 3-0 against Atalanta in Bergamo, Roma received and beat Verona 2-0, Sampdoria went to Genoa and won 1-0.

 

Primeira Liga (Portugal) (After 6 matches)

SL Benfica is top with 16 points after beating Estoril Praia 3-2 away in Estoril. FC Porto is second with 12 (1-1 at Sporting CP in Lisbon) the same points as Marítimo, 4-0 winners over Guimarães in Madeira.

 

Premer Liga (Ukraine) After 7 matches

 

1. FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk (19), 5-0 winners against Olimpic Donetsk; 2. FC Shakhtar Donetsk, 18 points, dropped the first three at home to Zorya (0-1); 3. Dynamo Kyiv (17) 4-1 against Volyn.

 

In Romania, after 9 games, FC Steaua Bucureşti leads with 22 points after a goalless home draw against Astra.

 

In Armenia, after 8 games, the leader is Ulisses FC with 22 points (2-1 winners at home over Pyunik).

 

In the Azerbaijan Premier League (Topaz Premyer Liqası), after 7 games Inter Baki (14 points) leads after drawing 1-1 at Olimpik-Şüvälan. Sumqayit (12) is second after losing 3-2 at Simurq.

UEFA Europa League: Good start for Dinamo and Krasnodar

 

The two Russian teams in the UEFA Europa League group phase, namely FK Dinamo Moskva and FK Krasnodar, both had excellent results away in Groups E and H, respectively. Dinamo won against Panathinaikos in Greece by two goals to one, while Krasnodar drew 1-1 in Lille, France.

 

In Greece, Dinamo had more ball possession (57% against 43%), had two balls on the woodwork, around the same number of strikes but two corners to eight. Kokorin (40) and Ionov (49) put the Muscovites ahead, and Dinas got one back on 63'.

 

Krasnodar took the game to LOSC Lille in France, having slightly less ball possession (47% to 53%) but managing more strikes on goal, although LOSC had a ball on the woodwork. Laborde scored for the visitors while Kjaer equalized after the break on 63'.

UEFA 2016 Campaign Kick-off

 

Fabio Capello's Russia began the campaign for the UEFA European Cup Finals in France in 2016 with a 4-0 win over Liechtenstein in Khimki at the Arena Khimki. Two own goals from Martin Buechel on 4' and Franz Burgmeier on 50', a penalty from Dmitry Kombarov on 54' and a strike by Artem Dzyuba on 65' fixed the scoreline in the Group G tie.
