Forlan for Manchester City?

Uruguay striker Diego Forlán, 31, voted Best Player of the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa has been referred to as being in line for a transfer from Spanish team Atlético Madrid to Manchester City.

Soccer gossip has Diego Forlán on the "must buy" list for Manchester City coach Roberto Mancini, due to the fact that the deal with Inter Milano striker Mario Baoltelli fell through because of his 180,000 GBP per week pay request. Forlán won the Golden Boot, for Best Player of the FIFA World Cup, and was recently classified as leader of the ranking of the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) in 2010, which orders the best scorers of the year.

In the case of Diego Forlán, he leads with 13 goals, 7 scored for Atlético Madrid and 6 for Uruguay, ahead of David Villa (12 goals, 8 for Valencia and 4 for Spain) and Javier Hernández (9 for CD Guadalajara and 0 for Mexico).

Diego Forlán, who already had a less than successful spell at Manchester United (63 games and 10 goals in a two-year period, 2002-2004) has been chased by a host of Premier League and Italian clubs, namely Manchester United, Tottenham, Juventus, Inter and AC Milan.

However, he has stated that he wants to remain in La Liga.
