First blood to Barça? Not really.... 45122.jpegBarcelona FC leaves the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid (Real) with a 2-2 draw in the first round of the Spanish Super Cup, meaning that José Mourinho's team has to go to Barcelona and win. First blood to Barça? Do not rule the Portuguese genius out, his second seasons in charge of a club are mesmerising.

And this first game of the season in Spain proved the point: Real Madrid left the field having beaten Barcelona FC in all areas...except the result. Real missed several opportunities to score and took the game to Barça, showing the Spanish champion that Real Madrid this season will be different from 2010-2011.

Ozil scored first for Real after good work from Benzema on the right flank. 1-0 after 13'. Barcelona replied with their first shot at goal after 35', after being pressed back into its own half...Messi to Villa...goal, 1-1. Messi scored Barcelona's second on 45', after Pepe slipped in defence but Real equalised after 53'.

It was Pepe who passed to Alonso after a corner, 2-2. The entry of Fábio Coentrão and José Callejón galvanised Real Madrid, which had three opportunities to place the game outside Barça's reach through Ronaldo (looking for his 100th Real goal), Benzema and Ozil.

On Wednesday we will see the sequel in Camp Nou, Barcelona.

Real Madrid: Casillas; Ramos, Pepe, Carvalho, Marcelo; Xabi Alonso, Khedira (Callejon, 58); Di María (Coentrão, 54), Özil, Cristiano Ronaldo; Benzema (Higuaín, 81).

Barcelona: Valdés; Alves, Mascherano, Abidal, Adriano (Piqué, 62); Keita, Thiago (Xavi, 58),  Iniesta; Messi, Villa (73),  Alexis Sanchez.
