Barcelona was too strong for Manchester United at Wembley Stadium tonight, proving what many had said: it is the best team in the history of soccer. With this victory, Barça edges ahead in the duel with Manchester United, having won 4, drawn 4 and lost 3 games in the eleven meetings between the clubs.
United started the game aggressively but the Barça machine soon got under way. More than half the Barcelona players have been together for over a decade, coming from the soccer school, playing for club and country - and so this explains their ability to pass the ball seemingly with their eyes closed.
The deadlock was broken after 27 minutes, by Pedro Rodríguez (Barcelona). Xavi passed the ball to Pedro, who managed to find space on the right of the area, firing past the diving Van der Sar. At the time Barça had 71% of possession.
United came back into the game and after 34', Wayne Rooney combined with Ryan Giggs, in a fine 1-2 resulting in the England striker's equaliser. 1-1.
In the second half, however hard Manchester United tried, there was only one team in it. Messi combined well with Iniesta and scored the second on 54' and on 69', Messi and Busquets worked the ball to Villa. 3-1.
