Soccer Round-up

As the UEFA soccer season enters the final leg, many championships are either completely or virtually resolved, among these being Manchester United's victory in the Premiership and Bayern's in the Bundesliga. Barcelona, Juventus and PSG are waiting to celebrate while in Portugal and Russia, things are a bit tighter.

England - Premier league - 35 games of 38 completed

Manchester United drew 1-1 at Arsenal (Van Persie scored from the penalty spot against his former club), these two clubs having played one game more than their rivals in the pack, which are on 34 games with 4 to play. Manchester City (2nd) won at home against West ham United 2-1; Chelsea moves up into third with a 2-0 defeat of Swansea City and Tottenham Htspur is fifth after drawing 2-2 at Wigan.

Spain - La Liga - 33 games out of 38 completed

Barcelona's 2-2 draw at Athletic Bilbao saw real Madrid pull up to eleven points behind in second place, after winning the Midrid derby against Atlético 2-1 away.

Germany - Bundesliga - 31 games out of 34 completed

Bayern (84 points) beat Freiburg 1-0; Borussia Dortmund beat Düsseldorf 2-1 away.

France - Ligue 1 - 34 games of 38 completed

Paris Saint-Germain is on 73 points after a 1-0 away win at Évian; Marseille is on 64, after winning by the same result at Lorient in Brittany; Lyon drew 1-1 at home with Saint-Étienne and has 60 points.

Portugal - Primeira Liga - 27 games of 30 completed

FC Porto left the weekend one point behind Benfica after beating Setúbal 2-0 but Benfica travelled to Marítimo on Monday and won the game by 2-1 retaining the 4-point lead. Paços de Ferreira drew 2-2 at Guimarães. Benfica travels to the Estádio do Dragão (FC Porto's home stadium) in the penultimate game.

Russia - Premier League - 26 games of 30 completed

CSKA lost 2-0 at Rubin Kazan but takes advantage of non-win results from Zenit (2-2 draw at Kuban) and Anzhi Makhachkala's 2-0 defeat at Spartak Moskva, in fourth place.

Italy - Serie A - 34 out of 38 games completed

Juventus (80) won the Turin derby against Torino, 2-0 away; Napoli (69) came away from Pescara 3-0 winners and AC Milan (62) beat Catania 4-2
