The black box from the Airbus 321 cockpit has not yet been deciphered, the investigation is currently taking place. However, more and more experts agree that the reason of the catastrophe should be looked for from the outside. The versions of a terror act sound more insistent.
Evgeny Satanovsky, President of the Institute of the Middle East: 'Sure, the war is going on in the Sinai, it's a zone of a most serious counterterror operation with quite serious casualties in the Egyptian army. In this case, we cannot say today whether the plane crashed because of some technical faults or a strike from a man-portable air-defence system, until the black boxes are deciphered and the investigation is carried out.'
The opinion that the plane was downed can be heard more and more often. However, it is still early to assert something. The investigation should be carried out. But, assuming the version of a terror act is true, who could help the terrorists to down the plane?
Evgeny Satanovsky, President of the Institute of the Middle East:'They certainly have man-portable air-defence systems. A lot was removed from the stores of the murdered Gaddafi to the Sinai. At first, it was shifted to the Gaza Strip, and now Qatar shifts a lot of things to Syria. It is clear, that handing over of MANPADS to the IS or the al-Nusra Front in Syria is a strategic task for those supporting the Islamists. The Sinai Peninsula is a very good transit route for such systems. They can be shifted further to Turkey and Syria. Some of these weapons can fall into the hands of local fighters. But we'll be able to learn it for sure after all of these groups are annihilated. It's no accident that all the world air companies detour the Sinai Peninsula after the catastrophe with our airplane. But, again, we still don't know whether it's terrorism or technical problems. Noone knows it.'
